The Jordan High School Athletic Booster Club (JHSABC) is proud to announce the 2023-2024 Scholarship Program. 

Ten (10) scholarships in the amount of $1,000 will be awarded to 5 Boy Student Athletes and 5 Girl Student Athletes to offset the cost of higher education. 

Scholarships will be awarded to the student athletes who consistently exemplify the mission of Jordan High School (JHS) through excellence in academics, athletics, leadership, and overall contribution to the community.

Important Membership Deadline for 2023-2024 School Year:

The JHS ABC Scholarship eligibility requires membership in the Athletic Booster Club for every year in attendance at JHS beginning with the 2022-2023 school year.  The membership deadline for senior applicants for the 2023-2024 School Year was January 31, 2024 .

Families who were NOT MEMBERS in 2022-2023 are NOT eligible for the scholarship, even if they are current members, UNLESS the student athlete is new to JHS this year.

Process Timeline:

  • January 31: 2023-2024 membership deadline for senior athlete scholarship eligibility
  • February 1-March 22: The Scholarship Application Form will be available on the Booster website. Applicants must complete the online application form, essay, and ensure parent/guardian statement (if required) are submitted by the stated deadline of March 22, 2024.
  • March 31: Following confirmation of membership status, the Student Evaluation form will be emailed to the two individuals identified by the applicant on the Scholarship Application. The deadline for two Student Evaluations is March 31, 2024.
  • May (TBD): Scholarship recipients will be announced at the JHS Awards Night.
  • May 13: Scholarship recipients will be introduced at the ABC General Meeting, reception to follow.

2023-2024 Applicant Eligibility Requirements:

All student athletes (including cheer), team managers and/or athletic trainers of Jordan High School are eligible to apply, provided they meet the following requirements:

  • Student athlete must have a parent, stepparent, or guardian as a CURRENT JHSABC member in good standing as of January 31, 2024, AND must also have been a JHSABC member for the 2022-2023 academic school year (if the student attended JHS last year)
  • Student athlete is a graduating senior and must have a good disciplinary record with JHS and the JHS Athletic Program, as verified by the grade level Assistant Principal (AP) and appropriate athletic program staff.
  • Student athlete participated in at least ONE full season of any JHSABC supported program as a player, athletic trainer or team manager while attending JHS.
  • Student athlete has a minimum GPA of 2.5 (cumulative as of the end of Fall 2023).
  • Student athlete plans to attend an accredited college, university, or trade school following graduation.
  • Each scholarship is paid directly to the recipient’s college, university, or trade school.

Application Process:

Application Form & Parent/Guardian Statement:

Scholarship Application Forms can be accessed online beginning February 1, 2024. The deadline to submit a Scholarship Application, including Parent/Guardian Statement (if required) is March 22, 2024.

The online scholarship application requires information about your high school academic record, athletic participation, other extracurricular activities and an essay prompt. The application form does not have a save and continue option.  It is recommended that you prepare your essay in advance to upload it into the application when you are ready to proceed.

Essay Prompt:

In 500 words or less, respond to the following question:

When you reflect on your time as a student athlete at Jordan High School, how have you exemplified the “Warrior Way of Life”? How has that mission prepared you for the future?

The essay document should be typed using 12 POINT FONT AND SINGLE LINE SPACING. In the top right header of your essay document, include your Student KISD ID. Please DO NOT include your name in the header or body of your essay.

Parent/Guardian Statement:

If the student athlete is under the age of 18, a Parent/Guardian Statement is also required as part of the application process.  Upon submission of application, if required, an email with the required form will be sent to the parent/guardian using the email address provided by the applicant on the scholarship application. Applicants will receive an email confirmation when the required Parent/Guardian form is submitted on their behalf.  The Parent/Guardian Statement, if required, is due by March 22, 2024.

Student Evaluations for Application:

Two (2) student evaluations are required to complete the application process. Following confirmation of membership status, an email will be sent to the email addresses of the two individuals provided by the applicant on the scholarship application.

One individual must be a teacher at JHS. The second individual may be the JHS faculty sponsor of a JHS Student Organization OR external reference (ex. civic organization leader, faith organization leader, club/recreational sport coach, service organization leader, or employer).

The two Student Evaluations are due by March 31, 2024. Applicants will receive an email confirmation when evaluation forms are submitted on their behalf.

One of the best ways our Warrior Families can support the athletic programs at Jordan High School is to become a member of the athletic booster club. Our goal is for every athlete to be represented by a parent or family member. Booster Club membership is open to families, friends, school faculty & staff, and local businesses.
